5 walks for all the family on the Breton Riviera

Want to get moving, get some fresh air and spend some quality time with the family? We’ll take you on a tour of the Breton Riviera’s footpaths to discover 5 easy loops, accessible to young and old walkers alike.

Here are 5 ideas for walks that have been tried and tested by families!

Walking as a family is much more than just an outdoor activity. It’s a chance to slow down, observe, exchange ideas… and make memories. The Breton Riviera’s footpaths are an invitation to explore: from the sea to the countryside, from the woods to the heritage, every walk is an adventure for the whole family.

These walks, of around 5km, are ideal for families with children aged 6 and over, depending on their stamina and pace. Just pack a snack, a water bottle and comfortable shoes, and off you go to explore!

Some loops are also accessible to all-terrain pushchairs or baby carriers, so the whole tribe can enjoy the ride.

#1 From one port to another 2.2 km

From the town of La Forêt-Fouesnant, walk along the Allée du Mesmeur and admire the Golf de Cornouaille and the 18th-century Manoir de Mesmeur. Then cross the footbridge at Port-La-Forêt and take the path that leads to the charming and picturesque Vieux Port. Enjoy the view over theLa Forêt cove.

#2 Corniche de l'Estuaire 4.9 km

Enjoy a short break by the sea in Bénodet. The walk starts at the end of thePenfoul cove. Follow the path along the shoreline and admire the view over the mouth of theOdet. Head for the marina to reach the corniche and admire the Pyramide and Coq lighthouses and the Minaret. Continue along the Trez beach with its bathing cabins. The path then passes through picturesque little streets before returning to your starting point.

#3 Around Sainte-Anne chapel 5.8 km

This trail will surprise you with its majestic Sainte-Anne chapel and its devotional fountain. It then invites you to explore the natural beauty of the fouesnantais bocage, while discovering the orchards that have made the region famous as apple country. Along the way, let yourself be captivated by the calm and serenity of the rural landscapes.

#4 Le Bois du Moustoir 3.2 km

The Bois du Moustoir is a natural area consisting of a deciduous and coniferous forest and a pond that is a favourite with anglers. At just over 20 hectares, it is one of the largest woods in the Pays Fouesnantais. It is home to a wide variety of forest plant and animal species: beech, oak, holly, wood hyacinth, kite, badger, red squirrel, fox, etc. The trunks and branches of the trees are covered in moss, giving the impression of walking through a rainforest. A few metres further down, at the bend in a valley, lies a majestic avenue of hundred-year-old Beech trees, some 120 years old.

#5 Beg ar Vir 3.2 km

This very short walk begins under the Cornouaille bridge, offering a highly original view of this structure. It follows the shoreline, offering spectacular views over the mouth of theOdet, Bénodet andPenfoul cove.
